Tilda Village Life Quilt - Stripologized Kit - Charcoal - 67" x 91" - Pre-Order

I made this quilt after a trip to Iceland. I use it every winter and I love the memories it brings back to me.

I submitted my Make Do and Mend Wall Quilt at the Minnesota State Fair along with 4 other items (including my flying geese temperature quilt that I did with Perfect Pair last year. ) I look forward to seeing it displayed in the Creative Arts Building.

Loved this kit. Panels were awesome and square, which is unusual. Fabric was beautiful. Easy to make and turned out great.. My cousin is going to love this quilt for his Lake House. Can’t wait to gift it. Thank you for the perfect kit! Just what I have been searching for….

I was quite disappointed in the cutting of the panel. I’m not certain how a quilt shop can whack this off the bolt and not follow the cutting lines. On both sides of the panel I was left with less than 1/8 inch of fabric in some areas. In order to maintain the integrity of the panel I had to carefully sew and the reinforce those areas with iron on interfacing. All because no care was taken while cutting.

Tilda is a very different pattern designer than Gudrun. Her patterns have way too many pieces and they are tiny. I only attempted this kit because I knew I would get help from gudruns videos. There was plenty of fabric provided. I made a serious cutting error and still had enough to recover. Without gudruns video help I would not have had the courage to do this project.

I made two wall hangings, 39"x48", from one kit. My favorite pattern so far. I only do Gudren's patterns. Love the stripology rulers.

I love the quilt, love the fabric choices BUT several of the fq’s were not quite wide enough to get complete strips without cutting into the selvage. Luckily I noticed this before starting. Did I absolute minimum on straightening up opposite end. Still, I ended up having to take some wider seam allowances in order to get rid of the white selvage from sewing. I also assembled my quilt more closer to the order of colors we saw on the spectacular Aurora show May 10/11 with the pink and green colors in reverse places.

I thought I might precut this before a cruise with sewing machine. I really like the turquoise shades.

What can I use for backing for this quilt? Would like your opinion.
