The Story Behind Goody's Shades Club

Over the years, Gudrun has heard one challenge from quilters again and again, “I can never find the right background fabric.” Whether it’s too stark, too dull, or just not quite right, many quilters struggle to choose backgrounds that make their quilt tops truly shine.

Gudrun saw this as both a problem and an opportunity, not just to help quilters find beautiful neutrals, but to teach how the right tones can transform a quilt. The perfect background doesn’t compete; it complements. It gives your colors room to breathe and your design a sense of balance and depth.

That’s how Goody’s Shades Club was born, a quarterly subscription dedicated to the “unsung heroes” of quilting. Each shipment features three hand-picked shades, a light, medium, and dark,  carefully chosen by Gudrun for their versatility and impact. Along with the fabrics, members receive a printed insert with real quilt examples and color studies, designed to inspire and educate on how to pair each shade with your favorite Color Club or Bundle Club fabrics.
