Compact and travel-ready, the 14” x 14” GEasy Wool Pressing Mat and Silicone Tray Combo, designed by Gudrun Erla, is the perfect choice for pressing blocks at retreats, classes, or in tight sewing spaces.
The ½” thick, 100% wool mat absorbs heat, effectively pressing the fabric from both sides to ensure crisp, flat seams. The texture of the wool stops fabrics from shifting so there is no distortion when pressing.
Press with steam, spray starch or mist. Our exclusive heat-resistant silicone tray acts as a heat and moisture barrier, protecting the surface below and catching any condensation. It makes cleanup a breeze: just lift, wipe, and flip. Added bonus? The silicone tray keeps the mat in place so it doesn't slide when pressing.
Built to be reversible and easy to store, it’s the ideal companion for on-the-go quilters or placing next to your sewing machine.
Why Use Wool for Pressing?
Wool retains heat exceptionally well, which means it presses from both the top and bottom at once, saving time and giving quilters flatter seams.
Its natural texture also grips the fabric slightly, helping to prevent shifting or distortion while pressing. That’s why wool mats are a go-to for crisp results in block piecing and precision quilting.
What Makes the GEasy Wool Mat Different?
Unlike standard wool mats, the GEasy Wool Pressing Mat includes a custom silicone tray that keeps it from sliding, protects your surface from heat and moisture, and makes cleanup simple.
Plus, the wool mat is drilled to sit snugly on the tray’s posts, so it stays in place and can be flipped and reused. No more slipping, soaked workspaces, or heat damage.
Is it Safe to Use with Steam or Starch?
Absolutely. Use as much steam, spray starch, or mist as you need. The heat-resistant silicone tray acts as a protective barrier, catching any water droplets or condensation. When you’re done, just lift the mat, wipe the tray, air-dry your mat, and you’re ready for your next project.
What Size Mat Should I Choose?
- 14” x 14” – Ideal for pressing blocks, small projects, and use next to your sewing machine. Compact and easy to pack, it’s perfect for retreats, classes, or tight workspaces where portability matters most.
- 23½” x 18½” – Designed for larger-scale pressing. This mat fits an entire fat quarter or half-yard cut, making it ideal for strip piecing, full quilt layouts, and bulk pressing without needing to reposition your fabric.
Both sizes offer the same heat-trapping wool, non-slip tray, and easy-to-clean design, just pick based on how and where you quilt most.
Care Instructions
To clean, simply remove the wool mat from the tray and allow it to air dry if damp. Wipe down the tray with a soft cloth or paper towel. Do not machine wash. Avoid excessive prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or open flame.
